Under the direction of the Inspector of Buildings perform varied and detailed inspectional duties to ensure compliance with gas and plumbing standards, laws and regulations.

Administer and enforce the provisions of the Plumbing and Gasfitter Codes as adopted or amended by the Board of State Examiners of Plumbers and Gasfitters; and inspect installations for all plumbing and gasfitting work for which permits have been issued.

Determine the fees for various applications; collect monies and issue receipts; approve summary of fees to Town Treasurer; record inspections made on applications; and file applications for future use and reference.

Assist plumbers and gasfitters relative piping designs and layouts, pipe size, etc.; guide plumbers or gasfitters in interpreting the code and the intent of the law; consult and advise other town officials as needed or requested.

Report all violations of the Massachusetts State Codes for plumbing and gas to the Inspector of Buildings for further action; perform other duties as assigned.
