Tercentennial Committee:
About

On June 4, 2007, Plympton celebrated its 300th birthday.

The Tercentennial Committee was created by the Board of Selectmen to plan and organize the Town’s Tercentennial Celebration. It was dissolved in July 2007 after the celebratory events. One outcome of the Tercentennial Committee and the great success of its efforts has been the creation of an Old Home Day Committee that will plan and manage an Old Home Day event each year.

The Tercentennial period of June 4th through the 24th was filled with significant events that included:

  • parade and ceremonies with Local, State and National dignitaries,
  • children’s play at the local elementary school,
  • Revolutionary War re-enactment and encampment,
  • tours of historic homes and other historic sites,
  • community barbeque and dance, Old Home Day, and a video documentary.

Images of the events can be found in our image database. Search on the keyword "tercentennial".

Members of the Committee were:

  • Christine Joy, Chairman
  • Nancy Butler, Secretary
  • Debbie Anderson
  • Debbie Batson
  • Phil Burnham
  • Bob Gohl
  • Siobhan Green
  • Andy Karparis
  • Lisa Krance
  • Walter Peterson
  • Sherri Slater
  • Cathy Vautrinot
  • Elizabeth Westley

The events were a great success, and the Town and residents greatly appreciate the hard work, creativity and effective management donated by these people!
